When the issue of organic foods first emerged, many people considered it as just one of the many fads around. Nowadays, it has become evident that a huge section of the populace is concerned about wanton destruction of the environment and worsening human health. It is no wonder that organic foods are very popular globally. However, is every food organic worth eating? The following organic foods may not be as worthwhile as you previously thought.

Food #1: Pork

Have you seen the disgusting pictures of enhanced images of pork making rounds on social media? The aim of these photos is to emphasize the dirt that is in pork. Even if organically raised, pigs are still the dirty animals we have known since time immemorial. First, the animals do not have sweat glands, meaning that many toxins remain in pork. Second, pigs may not necessarily eat toxin-free food, which is the aim of organic rearing. The amount of supervision needed for this to happen is simply unrealistic.

Food #2: Cheese

Organic cheddar cheese is an exciting meal, isn’t it? It does not have preservatives or artificial colors. This is the reason people are buying the food in their numbers. Nevertheless, there is one problem; cheese is still junk food, no matter how you serve it. Cheddar cheese has very little fiber and zero vegetables so I would not consider it a healthy food.

Food #3: Soy

There was a time when everyone was saying about all the good things about soy. Soy companies reaped big time then. That was not until real research results about the food started emerging. Several downsides have been associated to soy including fertility issues, endocrine disruption and hormone issues. If you ask me, these are enough reasons why you should be apprehensive about this food. Of course, promoters have come out guns blazing and rubbished the reports. What they fail to tell you is that organic soy is only safe if it is fermented.

Food #4: Cow Milk

I know this is surprising, considering that organic cow milk is believed to be free from antibiotics and hormones. Organic milk is not recommended as long as it is not raw. Most of these products undergo pasteurization, a process that eliminates beneficial enzymes and bacteria. Therefore, you will often have digestive issues with organic cow milk. When they say that organic foods are good, it does not mean everything with an organic tag on it goes. If you care for your digestive system and overall health, you had better be more careful with your organic food-shopping list.
